'Taleban kill six men for spying'

Suspected Taleban militants have killed six men in north-west Pakistan after accusing them of spying for the United States, local officials say.

The bodies were found on roads in Miranshah and neighbouring Mir Ali in North Waziristan.

The lawless region is known to be a hub of Taleban and al-Qaeda militants.

Militants have killed dozens of local tribesmen and Afghan refugees for allegedly spying for US forces in Afghanistan or for Pakistan.

A local official said notes found next to the bodies said they were killed because they were "American spies".

One report said that five of the men were shot dead and one hanged.

Earlier this month suspected militants killed three men in North Waziristan after accusing them of the same charges. Two of those shot dead were reported to be Afghans, the other a Pakistani.
